Family Dinner

9-5-12

The anticipation had been killing me all day. Sitting there atop the old white countertop sat an ordinary looking brown paper bag. There was something different about it though because as I stared at it, it suddenly moved. Tonight was lobster night.

My mom was in the kitchen busily preparing her famous macaroni salad. The pasta boiled on the burner besides her as she chopped the vegetables that would later be our dinner. This was nothing compared to what came next though. My dad entered and began to open the big brown bag. Slowly he produced a lobster and one by one he dropped a total of four into our biggest pot.

As I set the table and poured the milk, my mom began bringing over our feast. The macaroni salad, steamers, lobsters, and more melted butter than what is probably healthy. The four of us sat down and instantly my brother and I reached for the lobster with the biggest claws. We're overpowered though as my dad snatched it for myself as my mom sat there laughing.
